Two wonderful people that I enjoy quite a lot… I took this picture of Mike and Rachel in downtown Pittsburgh on the 4th of July when we went to see the fireworks. They were great, and we had some good fun.
However, I can’t help on patriotic celebrations to think about how America was founded on stolen land from Native Americans and supported by a stolen economy from Africans… I can never be proud of that history. But, I at least can say that I am thankful for what I do have now. And, I must say that the only proper response to such history is for the white majority to strive for racial justice and to advocate for the rights of minority ethnic groups. If we ever see true reconciliation between ethnic groups in our country in the social, economic, and most importantly, spiritual spheres of life, then perhaps I will be able to say that I am proud to be American.
