Detroit preliminary visit

Hey yall

So this weekend Mike, Jon, and I will be piling into Mike’s civic to drive 5.5 hours out to Motor City for some investigation and some good peeps. I’m pretty excited! Looks like our plan is to catch up with Sones and meet the interns that he has been working with during his summer program with the CDC (Central Detroit Christian Community Development Corporation) and tell them about what we’re doing with our intentional community in the upcoming year.

Then Mike and I at least will be going to meet some of WSU (Wayne State University) students that we’ll be working with this fall with our InterVarsity work. I think we’re hittin up some restaurant or somethin together and maybe watchin movie later? should be fun.

And last, we’re going to check out housing prospects (hence the investigation) on saturday, one of which I’ll tell you the story behind it:

My mom was attending this Christian Life Community national conference in DC and just happened to sit next to this woman who was from Detroit. She also just happened to need tenants for a house, and when she heard of what we we’re doing, she got so excited that she decided we could rent the house for FREE for several months until we get our feet on the ground. God, our Father, provides, don’t he? Praise him.
