Our first full day ended with Mike and me on our way to a Detroit open mic poetry/spoken word session… Matt’s in the back of the car as well but you can’t see him.
Matt and I both read some of our stuff and listened to a lot of really good poetry. We got a good taste of Detroit culture from this event… I think we’ll be returning next week to read some more of our stuff, meet some people, and soak it all in.
The house is all unpacked, set up, and it feels wonderful. We’re living in a temporary house on Hazelwood for the first month while searching other neighborhoods for where we want to plop down for the long haul. Be praying for our house search. Jon and Tyson will be joining us in a month or so when we’ve got the new house chosen.
Last thing I’ll say is that living in this house with my two brothers has been amazing on so many levels, but especially the spiritual level. We’ve been praying together each morning, for our neighborhood, for the various parts of our home, the various parts of our souls… having a Christian household that isn’t just a bunch of Christians living together but is seriously a household that is focused on following Jesus wholeheartedly TOGETHER is something I have yet to experience. It’s awesome, you should do it!
